IES Nº2 will be IES Clara Campoamor next year

Our school will change its name next year and go on to be called IES Clara Campoamor subsequent to the approval of the proposal made by the whole school community by the Counsellor of Education and Cience in Castilla La Mancha.

Clara Campoamor, born in Madrid on 12th February in 1888, is considered as one of the founding mothers of the feminist and suffragist movement in Spain, being one of the first congresswomen during the Second Republic. She was a defendant of equality of women's rights, one of the promoters of the approval of the universal suffrage in Spain, achieving the women to vote during the first republican elections, as well as the first law of divorce. She died on 30th April in 1972
